About

What makes something real in an age of AI? At FORGE, Hatton Garden’s jewellery creative hub, this question underpins their week-long London Craft Week programme — a celebration of contemporary jewellery experienced entirely in person. In a time of seamless digital imagery and algorithm-driven taste, FORGE invites visitors to encounter objects shaped by human hands, skill and material understanding.

Throughout May, FORGE’s showroom hosts The Secret Garden, a curated showcase inspired by renowned jeweller Kayo Saito and the classic novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Rooted in themes of growth, renewal and the quiet strength found in nature’s details, the exhibition brings together contemporary designers whose work reflects vitality, tenderness and transformation. From delicate botanical references to sculptural interpretations, each piece reveals the mark of process and the patience of making.

On Monday, award-winning designer Lindsey Mann leads a hands-on workshop exploring the vibrant possibilities of colouring anodised aluminium. Through colour interaction, resists and decorative techniques, participants create layered samples while developing both technical knowledge and confidence.

Tuesday’s panel discussion addresses craft in a digital age. As artificial intelligence reshapes design, imagery and retail, are we witnessing a renewed desire for the tangible? Independent makers and industry voices explore what cannot be simulated, questioning authenticity, imperfection and whether physical spaces and human exchange represent not nostalgia, but the future strength of craft.

Wednesday’s much-anticipated Skills Demonstration Day offers rare access to process, with ten accomplished makers sharing techniques from gemstone cutting to enamelling. Visitors can observe master craftspeople at work, ask questions and gain insight into specialist skills.

On Thursday, FORGE’s Meet the Maker Private View offers an intimate evening to experience the showcase and connect directly with the exhibiting designers whilst sipping wine.

On Friday, Kayo Saito returns for an intensive MasterMaker workshop, guiding participants in transforming sheet metal into expressive, plant-inspired forms grounded in traditional goldsmithing techniques.

FORGE concludes on Saturday with Whisky & Silver in partnership with The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, pairing exceptional drams with contemporary silversmithing.

Join FORGE in the heart of London’s Jewellery Quarter and experience the value of the real.
